Julien-K is one of those special and rare bands that forms because the creative minds of the founders had a specific vision for success. Ryan Shuck and Amir Derakh were synced with the experiences forged in a previous band and continued on when they started Julien-K. A goth, electric, industrial sound with a high energy stage show that draws out the best enthusiasms of the fans and bounce back to get a genuine positive reaction from the band. They never shy away from their previous bands, Rough Cutt, Orgy or Dead By Sunrise, as they fully embrace those chapters and the doors they opened however it’s the brainchild of Ryan and Amir that is Julien-K that flows with their blood and their passions.
Now with the release of Dark Mode, Julien-K have ignited a whole new era for the band with an amazing new album that is just a series of bangers, not a clunker in the bunch. The live show progresses constantly and this show was no different. I did notice that Amir played guitar a bit less in this set and focused more on keys and the tech equipment that shows his versatility while also showing and abilities that give Julien-K such a unique and unmatched sound.
