Can we talk about Blackleg Miner for a second? The band’s made up of veterans of the rock scene and lead by C.J. Murphy on guitar and vocals, with Kevin Filer matching him on the six strings, Ben Willard on bass, and Stikky crushing the kit. The Baltimore based quartet threw down at Fish Head Cantina for their home crowd in preparation for L.A. Guns.

Blackleg Miner came out swinging featuring a hard rock style with a splash of blues. While I’ve been familiar with the band’s formation it was my first time seeing them and it won’t be the last. Opening with “Rockin’ Is Ma Biz” the train never stopped with “Kick The Gong” and “Me And Mary Jane.” Interlocked with crowd pleasers like “Bathroom Wall,” “All Over Now” and “Mississippi Queen.” Not to mention, is there any better way to end a set then straight up saying “He’s A Whore”? Yeah, I didn’t think so.

BLM have follow-up shows coming up in Delaware and Towson but that’s just the beginning. Keep your ears to the ground, don’t be afraid to turn up the volume and stay prepared to rock!!
