Any Given Sin

Forbidden EP

By Jay Oakley

Maryland's Any Given Sin has released their new EP, Forbidden, and it shapes up as the forbidden fruit you've always been warned about. Heavy guitars with powerful lyrics make for a very exciting listening experience.

Vocalist Erik O'Dell has a deep yet smooth vocal style and delivery that highlights the deep riffs of fellow guitarist Mike Connor but especially works well with the bass. Bassist Henry Lopez has a solid style which runs alongside and intertwined with Mike Showalter's drumming.

The album has a series of very solid tracks with "When The Bough Breaks" starting the record off with some speed and aggression and the track " Ashes To Ashes" delivering the melodic, toned down side of the band but still with nothing short on the heavy edge. "Nearer Our God To Thee" might be the standout track due to it's balance. A steady flow of quality song writing mixed with a balanced rhythm section and guitars to match.

Any Given Sin has already shared the stage with some of metal's elite. Bands like Drowning Pool, Overkill, Coal Chamber, Testament and Yngwie Malmsteen just to name a few and have already picked up some notable sponsors. They are worth checking out as they continue to rise.
